On the first day of 2017, I wondered if my life would be easier if I stopped making art. Instead, I opened a notebook and wrote three strict rules for a year-long project:
Every day of 2017 will be given two pages in the visual diaries, which can be filled with anything - drawings, foldable sculptures, collage, text.
When the day is over, no corrections are to be made.
If a day is missed, the pages will remain blank, marked only with the date.
The diary is for the good days, big events, strange moments. Stupidity, the everyday, and boredom are not left outside of it. In 2017, I imposed on myself to keep a visual diary every day of the year. Some days I would find a new style of expression, experiment with folding sculptures, and get up from my desk after a job well done. In other days I would be bored to death, plot a passive-aggressive revenge on the pages, or contemplate quitting art forever just so I wouldn’t have to make my pages. This is everything. A whole year.
